Paperbag Apple Pie
Granny Smith Apples - 7 cups
Sugar - 1 cup
Flour - 2 tablespoons
Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
Pillsbury Pie Crust (unroll and unbaked) - 1 package
Lemon Juice - 2 tablespoons
Flour - 1/2 cup
Butter - 1/2 cup
Paper Bag - 1 large
Peel, then quarter and halve apple pieces into chunks. Place in bowl. For the filling of pie combine 1/2 cup sugar, 2 T flour and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples and toss to coat well. Spoon into pastry shell. Drizzle with lemon juice. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup flour for topping. Cut in butter and sprinkle mixture over apples to cover top. Slide pie into heavy brown paper grocery bag large enough to cover loosely. Fold open end over twice and fasten (I staple it). Bake at 425 degrees for 1 hour. I place on cookie sheet with sides in case it overflows. Split bag and remove pie to cool.
